In case you didn’t already get the update notification, BBM 2.0 is finally here for Android and iOS.

This new updates brings with, among other features, support for BBM Voice and BBM Channels on Android and iPhone. Voice and Channels  were previously exclusive to BBM on Blackberry devices. BBM Voice allows you make calls to your BBM contacts for free while BBM Channels is BBM’s take on social networking, integrated into the app.

However, unlike their legacy Blackberry counterpart, Android devices and iPhones will be able to make BBM voice calls over both Wi-Fi and mobile data connections. Nigerian Telcos are so not smiling right now.

Additional features included in this update (will also be rolling out simultaneously  to Blackberry devices) include one-click file and photo sharing, time-limited location sharing with Glympse, Dropbox integration, for sending large files to contacts and over 100 new emoticons.

You can find out more about the new BBM from the horse’s mouth. And make sure to check your Google Play and App Stores if you haven’t yet received notification for the update.
