We had no doubts in our minds that the Nokia Lumia 520 is the best selling Windows Phone till date. We finally have the figures to back that perception.
During his keynote at the Micrsooft Worldwide Partner Conference yesterday, Microsoft COO, Kevin Turner, recently revealed some data that shows that over 12 million units of the Lumia 520 have been activated globally so far.
12 million units worldwide is quite impressive for a device of the Lumia 520’s class. However, it comes at no surprise. For it’s price range – about 19k since last November – the Lumia 520 offers plenty value for money, especially as it upgradeable to the new Windows Phone 8.1 OS platform.
The Lumia 520 is rumoured to have an upcoming successor in the Lumia 530. It will be an uphill task for Microsoft to reproduce similar success with the Lumia 530, seeing as the Lumia 525, a 1GB RAM variant of the Lumia 520, announced last November never really caught on.
