uberdeveloper

In April, we told you about Uber’s Global API challenge, a virtual hackathon that encouraged developers all over the world to build apps that leverage the Uber API, or integrate the API into your existing app.

Recognizing the depth of talent in the country Uber Lagos decided to put a local twist on it by asking developers in Lagos to create solutions and integration that are relevant to Lagos.

In just a few months dozens of Nigeria’s top developers responded to the challenge, and will be presenting their creations at a demo event on the 8th of July, to a savvy audience of techies and investors. The best implementations will not only receive prizes, but will also gain access to mentorship from some of the foremost lights in Nigeria’s technology ecosystem. These Masterminds include:

Adia Sowho – Head of Digital Media, Etisalat Nigeria.

Emeka Afigbo – Google Outreach Program Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa.

Jason Njoku – CEO, iROKO Partners.

Rich Tanksley – Head of Pulse.

Tayo Oviosu – CEO, Paga.

Developers

Perhaps you did not participate in the global challenge, or did not hear about it in the first place? It’s not too late! If you get started building your Uber API-compliant app and get it ready in time for the demo day, you will be able to present it for a chance to win, as well as benefit from the exposure and networking.

Ideators

Not a developer, but you’ve got an idea that leverages the Uber API? Some of the best ideas come from non-technical people who were not afraid to start. Demo day will be a great opportunity to present your idea and network with technical people who can join you to turn your concept into a reality. Be sure to sign up for an invite to the demo day under the ideator class.
