Tanzania-based telco, Tigo is sharing the $1.8 million profits off its Mobile Money Trust profit with its customers.

Techmoran reports that the Tigo Pesa profit share distribution scheme follows the Tanzania Central Bank Circular issued on the utilisation of interests from the trust accounts.

“We are really excited to be announcing this distribution to our loyal Tigo Pesa users,” Ruan Swanepoel the Tigo Head of Mobile Financial Services said. “We believe that the Tigo Pesa profit share distribution in 2015 will be a welcome relief to millions of Tigo Pesa users in meeting their various financial commitments,” he added.

This is the second profit share by the company in 2015 and the company indicated it has paid a total of $12.84 million to Tigo Pesa users since the launch of the service in July 2014.
