Zambia-based ecommerce platform, Dot Com Zambia has received investment worth $500,000 from Zambia-based venture finance and private equity firm, Kukula Capital and eVentures Africa Fund.

Disrupt Africa reports that the $500,000 investment from both venture capitalist firms is structured as both debt and equity financing and will enable Dot Com Zambia grow its market across Southern Africa. The fund will also be employed in rolling out its bus ticketing platform, Bus Tickets Zambia, according to Dot Com Zambia CEO, Mawrano Kambeu.

“This is the ultimate dream come true for any entrepreneur, With eVA and Kukula on board, Dot Com Zambia has the expertise and financial muscle that will allow us to enhance our operations and grow faster to create value for our clients and the Zambian economy,” says Mawano.

The investors say that the co-investment initiative will allow Dot Com Zambia leverage on both Kukula’s operational expertise and eVentures Africa Fund’s expertise in building successful technology businesses..

Founded in 2009, Dot Com Zambia started out as a shopping platform through which individuals in Zimbabwe can purchase goods from foreign retail outlets.
