Jide Technology, the company behind the Remix Mini Android PC has partnered with Chinese display manufacturer, AOC to build a 24-inch all-in-one PC, and they’ve called it the AOC Mars All-in-One PC. From my first look, I can see how a PC like this could enable computing for the users at the bottom of the pyramid. Small businesses, et al. Think of it like an iMac, just cheaper, and running Jide’s take on Android, Remix OS.

Like I noted in here

, Remix OS brings a desktop, file manager, Start menu, keyboard and mouse support and other x86-first tropes to an Android base. While Jide’s Remix OS brings all that to the table, AOC’s hardware brings a 24-inch, 1920 x 1080 display, 2Gigs of RAM, and either 16GB or 64GB of ROM. , all powered by a 2GHz ARM processor. Obviously not a powerhouse, but that’s not the point.

From the promo video I found on Jide’s Youtube page, it will have a pair of HDMI ports behind it, four USB ports and an ethernet doodad. Since it will come with the latest version of Remix OS installed, don’t expect to see Google Play Services pre-installed. The engineers at Jide are still working to provide a seamless user experience with native Android apps, so you’ll have to side-load it if you want to run any of those apps.

I’ve reached out to Jide Technology about the pricing, and if/when we’ll see the AOC Mars PC in Nigeria (and Africa), and I’ll update the story where necessary.
