It appears Microsoft is nowhere near done with Android.

Barely just 2 weeks ago, they launched the second generation of Android-powered Nokia X phones, the Nokia X 2. Now, according to popular smartphone leaker @evleaks, Microsoft have an Android-powered Lumia in the works.

@evleaks has been dead on accurate with his leaks, we might want to take this seriously. One would however questions Microsoft’s motive for launching a Lumia range powered by Android. The generally accepted premise for the Nokia X range is that it was intended as a gateway drug, to get first time smartphone users onto the Lumia (Windows Phone) platform. But what is the premise for putting Android on a Lumia? What purpose can an Android Lumia fulfil that a high-end Nokia X cannot? Perhaps Microsoft is unsure of the future of Windows Phone? Only time will tell.

There are no further details as to the possible existence of the Android Lumia so for now, it is basically a rumour.

The photo above is of the new branding for future Nokia phone releases. It is not necessarily what the supposed Android Lumia may look like.
