Total Nigeria Plc and Wennovation Hub, the organisers of the TotalWennovation Hack, have announced the results of the first edition of the hackathon which took place from January 21 – 22, 2015.

The hackathon attracted developers and innovators from across the country. It witnessed computer programmers and others involved in software development, collaborate intensively to build software solutions to defined problem statements by Total Nigeria plc.

The hackathon produced ten finalist teams chosen from a concept-note submission stage. These teams then developed and pitched their ideas. Team Nnamdi ( led by Nnamdi Christopher Iroaganachi) emerged as the overall winner with a total of 356.7 points. The first runner-up was Team Jaja (led by Jaja Vincent Tamunomi), second runner-up was Team Ikponmwosa (led by Ikponmwosa Ogbeide) and the third runner-up was Team Ani (led by Ani Isaac Ugochukwu). The four winning teams won prizes of $1000, $500, $250 and $250 respective.

Total Nigeria Plc and Wennovation Hub have also reached a conclusion to award further development grants to the winning team if found capable after their solutions have been reviewed.

Our ambition is not borne out of purely economic reasons but out of our passion to make sustainable and positive impact on the lives of people in Nigeria,” according to an official statement.

The hackathon is the first phase of a long-term project to create innovation and harness technical solutions to improve business productivity.
