The latest data from International Labour Organization (ILO) database have revealed that the mobile ecosystem that contributed $75 billion (5.4%) to the African continental GDP in 2013 will likely grow to $104 billion (6.2% of GDP), by 2020.

The data, drawn from the recently released IPC Year in Review: Sub-Saharan Africa 2015 report also held that smartphone use in the continent is poised to grow by over 700% to 525 million users by 2020.

The report from IPC (Infinite Potentials Consulting), focused on Kenya, Ghana and Rwanda spewing optimistic data for Africa.

“Six of the world’s  fastest-growing economies in the 2003-2013 period were in SSA including Chad, DRC, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Ethiopia and Sierra Leone,”

the report reads in part.

IPC projects that the region will create the highest number of new jobs between 2014 and 2019.
