Africa remains in the good books of global private equity investors. A new study by the African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCA) says PE investors are looking to increase their allocations and doubling down on their decade-long plans. In 2016, private equity firms invested $3.8 billion in 145 deals across Africa up from $2.5 billion in 2015.

Egyptian motorcycle and tricycle hailing startup Halan has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Singapore’s Battery Road Digital Holdings and Egypt’s Algebra Ventures, Ventureburn reports. Halan will reportedly use the funding to expand to more cities and more countries, offer more services and to build better technology. |
