Vodafone is rolling out 4G service in Ghana. Finally. Vodafone has been negotiating with the National Communications Authority in Ghana for three years and now “have the opportunity to operate an LTE 4G licence”. Better late than never, I suppose. Here’s the report.

9mobile has faulted claims by Teleology Holdings that it was not cooperating. According to a statement signed by 9mobile’s Director (Regulatory and Corporate Affairs), Teleology Holdings failed to meet their obligations to the telco. Guardian Nigeria has more.

Safaricom has opened applications for its 2019 technology internship program. The Safaricom Technology Academy is a 3-month internship program that is targeted at ongoing Kenyan degree students. Application closes on 14th January 2019, you can apply here.

Uber announced the launch of UberASSIST, a specialized cab service that caters for riders with special access needs, in Nairobi Kenya. Nairobi is the third city in Africa with UberASSIST. The service is designed to provide additional assistance for the senior and disabled communities, with specifically trained drivers enlisted for the service.

South African startup WhereIsMyTransport, secured $1.85 million in funding and is expanding into India and Latin America. The startup offers integrated data solutions for formal and informally run transport in cities across South Africa.

Interswitch’s Mitch Elegbe, Andela’s Jeremy Johnson, Iyin Aboyeji of Andela and Flutterwave, TechCabal’s Bankole Oluwafemi, and Kola Aina of Ventures Platform are on Business Insider’s list of top 20 influential people in Nigerian Tech.
