The box

The first thing you notice about the TECNO Pouvoir 4 Pro is its captivating box. TECNO is still on its journey with bold-coloured packaging. This eye-catching design is that kind that instantly tells your neighbour you just launched a new smartphone. However, the new Pouvoir 4 Pro’s stunning yellow and turquoise blue box is the same as the earlier released Spark 5. The only difference you will notice is that while the Spark 5 blends the colours diagonally, the Pouvoir 4 Pro blends horizontally. Again, just like Spark 5, the Pouvoir 4 comes with the engraved symbols of Pouvoir 4, to show what phone you’ve got in your hands.

Pouvoir 4 Pro Cameras

The Pouvoir 4 Pro comes with an AI Quad Camera, which means you have 4 cameras in one for crystal clear photos with elaborate details. These include a 16MP primary lens, 5MP (2.5cm) Macro Lens, 2MP Bokeh Lens, and QVGA lens. There’s also a Quad Flash setup for taking low light photos. It’s also paired with an f/1.8 big aperture, 8X digital zoom, 77o shooting angles and 115o wide-angle lens, which means you can take wide-angle photos flawlessly.

On the front, you have a 16MP AI Selfie Camera with F/2.0 big aperture, 81o selfie angle, and dual front flash that solves the problems of taking breathtaking photos at any time.

TECNO Pouvoir 4 Pro Design

TECNO’s still keeping its trademark, polycarbonate skin, and the Pouvoir 4 Pro looks pretty much like its predecessor. Even so, textural gradient design isn’t so different from the earlier released Spark 5 or the Camon 15. However, we can’t complain about the design because it is still as eye-catching as ever and precisely an aesthetically superior design.

Perhaps the only way to differentiate between the Pouvoir 4 Pro and the newly released Camon 15 is its size. While the Pouvoir 4 Pro comes with a bigger display, the Camon 15 and Spark 5 are more compact and comfortable to hold.

However, as a firm lover of a 7-inch device, the Pouvoir 4 Pro is a much-preferred choice for me. This device is even longer than its predecessor the Pouvoir 3 Plus, which is only about 6.33 inches. Off-course, you still get the trademark fingerprint scanner and the Pouvoir label at the rear end.

At the base, we still get the usual USB, headphones, charging ports and speaker grills, just the way we like it

But we shouldn’t forget the latest feature in this spot – dual stereo speakers. TECNO decided to up the ante on sound by adding dual stereo speakers paired with digital sound effects to corrects all sound effects, so you enjoy a high-quality immersive entertaining experience, whether you are playing out loud or using your headphones.

To the left of the Pouvoir 4 Pro, you will find the power and volume buttons following the regular pattern.

However, TECNO’s changed the design of the volume buttons so you can have more for your gameplay. The volume buttons can be customized to act as the “Fire” key when playing games.

The right side has dual sim card slot which doubles as the memory card slot. But, there’s a new addition- a dedicated textured orange button for Google Voice Assistant for folks in love with using voice commands to do amazing things.

The Accessories

Like all TECNO Smartphones, the Pouvoir 4 Pro comes with a pair of earpiece, warranty card (don’t lose it as it might be handy), and neutral encasements. Also, worthy to note is its 18W Charger, which is a step-up from the regular 10W Charger.

After the device has been fully charged for about 2 hours, we had a swell time watching movies and playing games. With over 12 hours of movie time, this device is truly remarkable. Gamers will equally enjoy over 10 hours give or take which is entirely higher than anything you could expect with any other smartphone. And even more, if your smartphone is meant for smaller activities like WhatsApp, text and calls, you can expect up to 3 days of battery power and paired with its 18W speed charge, there’s nothing more you could ask for.

First Impressions

So, the best part of the Pouvoir 4 Pro that we saw is its 6,000mAH battery which lasts up to 3 or 4 days for light users and about 14 hours on heavy use.

The 18W fast charging and dual stereo speakers are all welcome additions on the Pouvoir 4 Pro especially at this price segment. The 2.0GHz Octa-Core Mediatek Helio P22 paired with 4GB of RAM/64GB of ROM works a lot faster than its predecessors. It also comes with the 4LTE connectivity and the perks of the Android 10 with a new HiOS Skin. With lots of RAM space and battery power, the Pouvoir 4 Pro performs a lot better than its predecessors.

At a price of N64,500 for the pro version and N54,500 for the base model, the Pouvoir 4 Series is just the perfect budget-friendly smartphone at the moment.
