It is easy to get bamboozled when you visit most ecommerce websites; too many offers at once, an array of bright colors attacking your senses, a seeming sense of urgency to do one thing, buy. I am glad to introduce you to peace of mind, KAIGLO.

I was invited to test the beta version of the Kaiglo app before its planned release later in March, and I was impressed with the experience, and more impressed when I realized I had received free cash in my Kaiglo wallet for simply signing up (which took less than 2 minutes). I continued to receive free money over the course of the next few days for just being active on the platform daily. After 10 days, I had amassed One thousand One hundred Naira (N1,100).

In an interview with Victor Eze, the MD of Kaiglo on their approach to ecommerce in Nigeria, he shared that Nigerians pay too much for most essential products. He attributes this to middlemen and supply chain intricacies. “Kaiglo takes out the multiple middlemen that add their profits which inflates market prices. So, anything you buy on our platform is almost at the manufacturer’s price. Our theories are sound and effective, and we are confident we have what you want at the prices and standard you are used to. Most of our deals are unbelievable”, he said.

At first glance, the app is easy on the eyes with clean user interfaces suited for both regular users and those who require accessibility. Navigating the app feels natural as you see just enough to locate your interests. With no options for personalization, you immediately get a ‘straight-to-business’ feel.

Here is my experience using the Kaiglo mobile app –

Signup

You are asked for the bare minimum: your first name, email address, phone number and referral code if you have one. The app proceeds to authenticate your details by sending an OTP to your mobile number and you are set! For those who prefer ease, there is also the option to use Google to sign up and for subsequent sign in. Once you are in the app, you can navigate to the ‘Account’ section to see your N1,000 sign-up bonus which is usable immediately.

Other incentives on the app include –

  1. Daily cash rewards to your wallet
  2. Group Buy – buy specific items at half the price when you invite friends to shop with you
  3. Referral bonus – earn N500 for every friend you refer to the platform.
  4. Review commissions – review any product and earn a commission.

Buying an item

I recently lost my earbuds and was in need of a new one, so I figured I could try Kaiglo. I immediately searched for headphones and was presented with options. The product page is the same as most online marketplaces, but the prices were truly unbelievable. My previous earbuds were the JBL Tune 220 TWS which I bought for N40,000 at the popular Saka Tinubu tech market in VI Lagos. On Kaiglo, these earbuds were selling at N17,000! I got my buds and quickly added a pair of curtains I found under the home and gardens category. The rest of the process was intuitive as I went ahead to select the option to “Buy now” and I was ready to check out. The total was calculated and included shipping costs, and all I needed to do was provide an address to anywhere in Nigeria before payment. Kaiglo offers nationwide delivery which could range between 5 hours and 3 days depending on your location.

The “Group Buy” feature is worthy of mention. Get upto 50% discount on products by simply inviting your friends and family to buy a product with you! Truly a shared value driven system.

Overall, the advantages of using Kaiglo’s new app is that you will derive much greater value as you shop with them. Based on my experience using this mobile application, I believe Kaiglo is providing great customer incentives alongside a convenient and efficient shopping experience. Another key insight is the high transaction security Kaiglo provides by partnering with the best fintech operators in the business. I would also recommend the app to customers of any kind; young and tech savvy, working class, entrepreneurs, and several other demographics across the continent.

The Kaiglo mobile app is set to be launched by the end of March and will be available for download on Apple App Store for iPhone users and on the Google Playstore for Android users.
