For years, Olubayo Adekanmbi has been the “Dean” of Nigeria’s data talent; in 2025, he became its product architect. This was the year his philosophy of “inclusive AI” solidified into Africa-first AI systems with real public and enterprise impact.
One of the clearest expressions of this vision was OffGPT, an on-premise, enterprise-grade AI assistant and sovereign “AI-in-a-box” developed by EqualyzAI, the AI company that emerged from the Data Science Nigeria (DSN) ecosystem. Introduced publicly in 2025, OffGPT enables organisations, including governments, schools, and businesses, to deploy GPT-style intelligence securely within their own infrastructure. By prioritising data sovereignty, privacy, and deep customisation over dependence on external cloud platforms, OffGPT embodies Adekanmbi’s long-standing push for inclusive, locally relevant AI solutions built for Africa’s unique realities.
Simultaneously, he kept the talent pipeline flowing at breakneck speed. His DSN AI Bootcamp attracted a staggering 32,000 applications and trained 150 exceptional talents in areas ranging from Generative AI to Digital Public Infrastructure and Responsible AI. DSN communities gained continental recognition at the Deep Learning Indaba 2025, winning awards for AI solutions in healthcare and environmental management.
Beyond talent development, 2025 saw Adekanmbi deepen AI’s public impact through initiatives such as EdoCert, a digital platform enabling secure access to verified educational records.
