256Bus.com is a bus ticket booking startup based in Uganda.
256Bus.com allows you purchase interstate bus tickets in Uganda. Through the platform, bus tickets can be purchased online, through phone call or in person, you simply need to fill your journey details on the website and once the payment is made, you’ll receive a notification via sms which will serve as your bus ticket.
The name of the startup reflects its area of coverage; +256 is Uganda’s international dialling prefix. With the platform, users can specify their preferred bus, bus operator and even a preferred seat.
According to Tebandeke Joseph, the company founder, “[256Bus.com is] an entire bus ticketing eco-system similar to what airlines use. A ticket booked at a bus company office cannot be resold via the other alternative sales means [but this is possible on 256Bus.com]. There is instant auto synchronization.”
256Bus.com is currently holding a fundraising campaign on VC4Africa.
