eTranzact launched BankIT last year, but it only allowed users purchase Airtel and Glo airtime from their bank accounts using USSD codes. Now, they’re working on eliminating cards, hardware tokens and bank visits by working with banks to give customers access to their bank accounts via USSD and BankIT-powered platforms. So far, they’ve partnered with Access Bank, FCMB, First Bank, Fidelity Bank, Heritage Bank, Skye Bank, and Stanbic IBTC.
BankIT has also added DSTV to its platform. This means users can now pay for their DSTV subscriptions by dialling a code on their phones (*389*9*SMARTCARD NUMBER#). Seeing as BankIT was designed as a safe and secure way to make payments easier, we can say it’s for anyone with a bank account.
BankIT is the cardless future of transactions – their words, not mine.
