The South African-based social enterprise firm, Raizcorp, has teamed up with banking and investment company, Investec to launch Raizcorp Acumen initiative for 2015, Disrupt Africa reports.

The programme is designed to equip and mentor twenty-four entrepreneurs/startups on business growth; twelve more than the number of startups the initiative accelerated in its first cohort in 2013.

“The 24 entrepreneurs selected for the programme will be assigned a dedicated team of five Raizcorp guides who will focus on strategy, finance, marketing, sales and personal development. They will also have access to Raizcorp Learning, tailored to the unique needs of entrepreneurs. ” Investec said.

Each place on the programme, according to the Disrupt Africa report, is valued at ZAR1 million (US$83,000).

Interested participants must be an active business owner with 51 per cent black ownership in South African. The business must have been in operation for more than a year with a turnover rate minimum of R50,000 (US$4,000) monthly.
