Seedstars – an international startup competition aimed at discovering and investing in startups from emerging markets will hold its Rwanda edition tonight.

The competition now in over 50 countries worldwide, will listen to pitches from 10 startups in Rwanda and the winner will qualify for the global event coming up in Switzerland.  

The Startups includes: Asuqu, Yubeyi, Lycamedia, Grocewheels, Safemotos. Others are Cartoon Home Network, istayconnected, mTiba, Tega, and Mergims.

According to Marcello Schermer, the regional manager for Seedstar Africa, “Rwanda is one of the most advanced countries in Africa when it comes to ICT and startups. We are very much looking forward to seeing what the local entrepreneurs have in store for the judges.”

The winning pitch from Rwanda tonight will join winners from other African countries like Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and Ethiopia in the global finals where the overall winner will win US$500,000 in investments.
