In more news about people switching companies, Kojo Boakye, Policy Manager for the Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI) is leaving to take up a the position of Africa Public Policy Manager, Connectivity & Access at Facebook.
Most of Kojo’s work has been on the use of mobile infrastructure and devices for the delivery of services, strategic planning for Universal Service Funds and ICT regulators focused on increasing Internet access. He resumed as Policy Manager at A4AI in 2013, and before that he was a Programme Manager at the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO).
A4AI is a broad coalition with the aim of providing access to affordable internet to all individuals on in all countries. “Broad” in the sense that members of A4AI cut across countries and public or private organisations. Facebook is one of the members of A4AI and Kojo will be continuing his work towards making affordable internet access reality there.
Eleanor Sarpong, who’s currently a consultant to the European Investment Bank (EIB), will be replacing Kojo as the new Policy Advocacy Manager, Country Engagement. Like her predecessor, she worked with CTO but as an associate consultant who worked on various projects including a presentation to board members of National Regulatory Authorities (NRA) drawn from 4 continents on the relevance of ICT and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in achieving the UN Strategic Development Goals (UN SDGs).
Eleanor will be joining A4AI officially in October and until then, the regional coordinators for A4AI’s regions – Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean – are in charge of enquiries.
