3. Applications are now open for the inaugural class of the Civic Tech Leadership Fellowship

The fellowship is designed to prepare future Civic Tech leaders in Africa. Participants will receive training; mentoring and funding to empower them to pursue the socio-economic development they want to see in Africa.

Applications are open until January 15, 2017 and interested individuals can apply here.

 

2. Ventures Platform is hosting its first demo day on January 27, 2017 in Abuja

Six startups that participated in the 16-week hybrid incubation program will be presenting themselves and their businesses to local and international investors and select members of the public.

SLA’s SLAY Festival is an outdoor celebration of African women in business, technology, culture and the arts. It promises to be a green event with several energy saving and recycling initiatives.

As far as I can recall, I’ve owned seven phones in the last nine years, four of which forcefully ended up with people who needed them more than I did. Out of the remaining three, I recall handing one down to a younger sibling and disposing another in a waste bag during spring cleaning. I haven’t given much thought to where my current phone will end up when it no longer serves its purpose. Until now.
