Yudala is plunging into the already saturated Nigerian e-commerce market, albeit with a different approach.
The e-commerce startup will be launching its online platform alongside brick and mortar retail chains across Nigeria and other African countries.
In a release made available to TechCabal, the company’s management reveals that the stores (online and offline) will provide ICT products as well as lifestyle and healthy living goods, with competitive pricing. Also, payments on the online platform can be made on delivery or pre-paid via debit/credit cards.
“Yudala will roll out four Experience and Smart stores in Lagos in the first week of July, while ensuring a nationwide spread in little time with the addition of a new store every other week in major capitals in the country and all over Africa. With a mandate to launch 150 Stores in the first 18 months of operations, the company will ensure that no region is left out in the quality experience that Yudala stands to offer” the release reads.
Yadula plans to open up to 512 shops in Nigeria’s local government councils within three years while it aims to employ 50,000 Nigerians within its first 18 months.
Yudala is led by the trio of Stanley Uzoechina, who handles the retail arm, Prince Nnamdi Ekeh, the online arm, and Tunde Kehinde, one of the founding CEOs of Jumia Nigeria who serves as a non-executive Director of the outfit.
Yudala tells TechCabal that its first retail outlets that will launch in July will be located at The Palms; Lekki, Medical Road; Ikeja, Idowu Martins; Victoria Island and Gbagada.
