Rwandan mobile telecommunications company, Tigo, has partnered with Western Union, to allow Rwandans receive international remittances to their mobile money wallet through Tigo cash accounts, a mobile financial service.

ItNewsAfrica reports that the users can dial *200*16# to access a menu and follow subsequent prompts to access remittances.

“Over 2.5 million subscribers are registered on Tigo Cash and this launch with Western Union will enable them to easily receive money from countries across the globe where Western Union has a presence.” said Tongai Maramba, Chief Executive Officer, Tigo Rwanda in the report.

After the receipt of international remittances, Tigo’s customers can use the funds to access the services of Tigo mobile financial services, the report says.
