Hello guys,
For our next AMA this Thursday, we will be hosting the Web Foundation’s Digital Equality Advocacy Manager, Nanjira Sambuli.
Nanjira is a Kenyan researcher and analyst with a focus on how technology intersects with governance, media and culture. With an academic background as a mathematician, she has worked as a new media strategist for various pan-African and international campaigns.
Currently, Nanjira works as the Digital Equality Advocacy Manager at the Web Foundation where she leads advocacy efforts to promote digital equality in access to and use of the Web. Before joining the Web Foundation, she was Research Lead at the iHub in Nairobi, where she helped shape governance and tech research, and provided strategic guidance for the growth of technology research in East Africa.
Nanjira is an immensely prolific writer with a particular focus on the social web, digital rights and freedom, gender and women empowerment, citizen participation in governance, ICT and governance landscape and cyber security and cyber resilience in East Africa. She previously edited the Innovative Africa essay collection and has contributed to various publications, including on Kenya’s media policy (on the role of social media).
She is a Trustee at mySociety, a leading civic tech organisation, and sits on the board of a few other organisations. Nanjira has also dabbled in music in the past. I mean, great vocals and addressing important social issues via music. Is there anything this lady can’t do?
That’s Nanjira! And she will be with us this Thursday, March 23rd, at exactly 2 pm (GMT + 1) to answer all your questions about the unfolding impacts of ICT adoption in Africa and East Africa in particular. You can ask her questions ranging from how tech impacts governance to innovation, entrepreneurship and societal culture in Africa and even its resulting gender implications.
Mark your calendars and join us!
