Africa is in a frantic race to end poverty and ensure that her people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030 via the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. Nigeria, like most African countries, is tasked to fast-track progress in achieving a socio-economic and environmentally sustainable future for her close to two hundred million citizens with an increasing population living below the poverty line.

The onus lies on SMEs (Small and Medium Scale Enterprises), the real engine of growth that make up 96% of Nigerian businesses to employ 84% of the working population and contribute 40% of the national GDP (Gross Domestic Product). SMEs have the potential to create millions of jobs, improve per capita income and export earnings, enhance capacity utilization in key industries, and unlock economic expansion and GDP growth. Therefore, it is imperative that the SME sector is developed.

Connect Nigeria, Nigeria’s information portal for SMEs has been driving the Sustainable Development Goals 8; Decent Work and Economic Growth through her mission to empower at least one million Nigerian businesses. The effort in empowering businesses, as well as fostering collaboration among young enterprising people and businesses making sustainable impact, led to the creation of the Connect Nigeria Business Fair, which is an annual event slated to hold this year on the 6th and 7th of March 2020 at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos. With thousands of attendees and 150 exhibitors at the 2019 edition of the fair, this year’s fair promises to be bigger and better.

2020 Vision marks the 8th edition of the Connect Nigeria Business Fair and provides a roadmap for business owners, with the focus on panel sessions, pitch sessions, masterclasses, exhibition, networking and lots more. This is aimed at encouraging participants to take a holistic view of their businesses.
