The first start-up incubator in Niger Republic was recently set-up and launched by Orange Niger with the help of other local partners.
CIPMEN is a small- and medium-sized business (SME) incubator designed to encourage the creation of new and innovative companies in the country while helping existing innovative SMEs grow in a market where failure is a real fear.
The incubator will help small companies in future-oriented sectors such as ICT, renewable energy and the environment. The project, initiated by Orange, is a pilot program which should kick-start the launch of other regional initiatives in Niger.
CIPMEN was established in late April 2014 at the first Start-up Weekend held in Niamey, which saw 80 participants spending 54 hours working on innovative projects.
This incubator is the third for Orange on the continent, after the CTIC incubator in Senegal and the Ebène project in Mauritius.
