A fruit a day keeps the doctor away. Or a smoothie a day keeps the doctor away, in this situation.

In a bid to promote healthy lifestyle and healthy eating, making fruits a constant part of everyday dining, Smoothie Express came into play.

Smoothie Express, a nutritional startup, offers a puree of vegetables and fruits served as a means to meet up with the recommended dietary allowance.

According to Omowunmi Akande, co-founder Smoothie Express,

“Smoothies are beverages made from fresh fruits and vegetables; a good source of vitamins, antioxidants and can generally helps with weight loss. It’s recommended by WHO for all adults to have at least 5 portions of fruits and vegetables a day to prevent diseases and obesity. Due to our busy lifestyle, meeting up with this recommendation can be strenuous. Smoothies are ideal to keep up with a 5 A day recommendation because they are a blend of various fresh fruits and vegetables.”

The smoothies can be ordered and paid for via the Smoothie Express digital platform. Delivery service is available in Lagos Island spanning through 2nd roundabout, Lekki, Lagos with dedicated dispatch bikes. The company hopes to expand on the number of its dispatch bikes.

Smoothie Express is a self-funded enterprise, co-founded by Omowunmi Akande and Tracy Owamagbe and launched on March 1st 2015. With an initial funding of 1.8 million naira the nutrition startup has so far sold a little below 700 and has a total of 120 signees through their online platform and other channels.
