E-commerce startup, Jumia has launched in Senegal.
The company made the announcement earlier today. This development coincides with the desire of the Senegalese Minister of the Trade, Mr. Alioune Sarr, for entrepreneurs in the country to embrace online retail in other to give their commodities a wider reach.
According to Patrick Farnole, Managing Director JUMIA Senegal, “You may enjoy cruising online from shop to shop, discovering our new weekly arrivals, comparing prices, brands, and find what you like at the right price. Today it is real on jumia.sn.”
This move has extended the Rocket Internet backed company’s presence in Africa as it seeks to sucessfully reproduce the Amazon model on the continent. Jumia is in operation in Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, Cote d’Ivoire, Uganda, Ghana, Cameroon , Nigeria, Algeria, Tanzania and Angola.
