WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum has announced on his Facebook page that the instant mobile messenger reached 800 Million active users.

Earlier in January 2015, WhatsApp recorded more than 700 million active users, now in April, which is 3 months later, it has reached 800 million active users.

“WhatsApp – now serving 800,000,000 monthly active users. Reminder for the press out there: active and registered users are not the same thing.” WhatsApp CEO and Co-founder Jan Koum said on his Facebook page dated 17 April.

The Facebook-owned mobile messaging recently updated with a number of interesting features: WhatsApp for PC, voice-calling, material design for Android (gives a refined look), and now you can backup your conversations on Google Drive.

Whatsapp was acquired by Facebook on February 19 2014.
