Startup investment company, Seedstars has announced it will be hosting its startup pitch events, Seedstars World across 12 African cities starting from the 26th of May to 27th of November 2015.
The startup pitch event seeks to discover and showcase startups from emerging economies and will hold in 50 cities across the world.
“Our goal is to create the network for quality entrepreneurs around the world and help entrepreneurs, accelerators, co-working spaces and investors to interact with one another.” says Alisee de Tonnac, CEO of Seedstars World.
Interested applicants can register on Seedstars World’s website from which 12 finalists will be selected to participate in a pitch event in their respective cities. The winning startup in each city, will earn a chance to compete for $1.5 million dollars in equity at the Seedstars World competition that will hold in Switzerland next February.
The pitch event in Africa will be holding in Maputo, Cape Town, Lagos, Accra, Abidjan, Dakar, Kigali, Kampala, Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Dar Es Salaam and Gaborone.
In September 2014, Nigerian e-payment platform, SimplePay picked up $330,000 in seed investment at the Seedstars World Competition where it emerged winner of the competition.
