NEC Europe, an arm of the Japanese IT service provider; NEC Corporation, has announced that it has invested in the sub-Saharan ICT group, XON, in a bid to bolster its market share in the region.
This development will see both organizations bring together their local expertise in order to increase sales in the region and improve their growth in the telecoms, government, enterprise and energy sectors.
“With this strategic investment in XON, we’ll be able to meet pent up demand for NEC’s solutions by massively expanding our sub-Sahara African business consulting, systems integration and managed service support footprint as well as sales coverage,” said Naoki Iizuka, president and CEO, NEC Europe.
The company also indicated that the collaboration will make for the reinforcement of NEC’s South African Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) credentials to level 3, access to XON’s network operations centre (NOC) and security operations centre (SOC), and also bring about a regional synergy around sharing IP and security competencies across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia.
XON is a South African-based ICT solutions company that focuses on retail, networking & security, infrastructure, electrical, power generation, alternative energy, maintenance and consulting.
