Yep, you read right – Mark Zuckerberg is in Abuja for the Aso Villa Demo Day Finale. The Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Vice President, Laolu Akande, and the Director of Public Affairs, NCC, Tony Ojobo, who are both at the event, tweeted these a few moments ago:

He’s already met with President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo (side-eye to those who said he ignored the Nigerian government) and he’ll be at the AVDD pitch finale holding today.

I’m officially crowning Mark Zuckerberg the King of Stealth. I mean, just yesterday, he made a surprise visit to Nairobi, where he met with a few engineers at iHub Nairobi, and had lunch with the Kenyan Cabinet Secretary of Information and Communications, Joseph Mucheru.

Before that, he stopped over in Lagos (from Rome) on Tuesday and spent two days where he met with the crew at CcHub, took a stroll to Andela, and hosted a Q&A session (you can read all about his visit here).

I’m not complaining, though. If anything, it’s more bragging rights – Zuckerberg visited Nigeria…TWICE. One has to wonder though, did he suddenly remember he hadn’t seen the Nigerian government? Did he suddenly learn about AVDD and change his mind mid-air? Is he back to cosy up to the government to further his cause (Free Basics, Express Wifi)?

Osarumen: I don’t know what you’re talking about. Me, I think he’s back for the Jollof.
