Olamide is quite the prolific artiste. He’s had two of the biggest hits in recent history – First of All (Go Down Low) and Durosoke – and locked down an endorsement deal with Etisalat. But it seems that his biggest coup till date might be creating a truly viral meme – the gunman pose.
What started as a pretty album cover has become a proper internet phenomenon. Instagram is flooded with pictures of people from all over the world taking pictures in the “gunman” pose, using the #gunmanpose hashtag. This seems to have been achieved without a spot of marketing or promotion from Olamide or his promoters.
Social media marketers must be wondering what they have to do to generate this kind of interest in their products. Perhaps we’ll have Olamide YBNL Digital in the near future?
