Great news for Android developers. Google has updated the list of locations from which paid apps can be published to the Play Store with 9 new countries – Belarus, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Nigeria and the UAE.
That’s right, Android developers resident in Nigeria are no longer limited to publishing free apps on the Play Store. Before now, the only way to make money from apps was to publish them from a supported location The delays and extra costs incurred in retrieving due funds made this method unprofitable, particularly for indie developers.
Nigerian developers can now head on to the Google Play Developer Console and sign up for a merchant account with the Naira equivalent of $25, which can be paid by debit card. However, developers will require a USD domiciliary bank account, as the default currency of operation for Nigerian merchant accounts is the US dollar.
