The Future Awards Project, an initiative that recognises the contributions of outstanding young Nigerians has released the list of nominees to the 2013 edition of the prestigious Future Awards.
I’ve scanned the list and this year, there’s quite a few recognisable names from the tech and internet ecosystem on it, in various categories. And not necessarily those with “tech labels” as such.
In the science and technology category, Chuka Ofili, Emotu Balogun, Clive Ayonye and Kene Udeze were nominated, presumably for their work on the Open Apps project. Hugo Obi of Maliyo Games is also in the running with them for the final award, along with three other nominees.
“Jobbermen” Ayodeji Adewunmi, Opeyemi Awoyemi, and Olalekan Olude are jointly nominated in the enterprise support category.
WeCyclers’ Bilikiss Adebiyi and Beniamerican’s Gossy Ukanwoke were nominated in the Business and Education categories respectively.
Anthony Ezeokoye made it into the arts and culture category. Kingsley Ezeani who runs a website that sits in Nigeria’s top 30, and John Obidi, a social media consultants will duke it out in new media.
The full list of nominees is available on the Future Awards website.
