Today is the 40th anniversary of the creation of what has become one of the most famous edu-toy of all time, the Rubik’s cube. The Rubik’s cube, although mostly seen as a toy, has helped improved the reasoning and speed of many. Google has created an animated doodle replica in honor of the brain teaser.
Take a moment to click on the cube shown on the Google homepage today, and its faces will get randomly mixed up, probably rendering you unable to work for a couple hours before you give up.
Something special happens when you solve the cube, but for obvious reasons you’ll have to figure that one out for yourself. Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik invented the Rubik’s Cube in 1974.
PS: However complicated it might be, a Rubik’s cube can typically be solved in 20 moves. Tell us what happens when you solve it. Enjoy.
