Lily Kuzro of Devio Arts Center has been announced as the winner of the Ghana edition of startup cup 2014. The win secures the Ghanaian startup a slot in the international edition of startup cup.
Six startups participated in the competition and gave a four minute pitch before a panel that included the founders of Growth Mosaic and RtHE Consult, as well as representatives from Stanford SEED and the U.S. Embassy in Ghana.
According to the organisers “The finalists will enjoy free mentorship packages, strategy consulting with Growth Mosaic, investment structuring with the Ghana Angel Investors Network, the AfricaTwenty10 Award, Ampion Venture Bus Award in partnership with AMPION, with the first place winner taking part in the World StartUp Cup competition to defend the reigning second place world championship title”.
The competitive process educates entrepreneurs to design a viable business model, develop customers, and accelerate their startup into the marketplace through a comprehensive judging, coaching, and mentoring process. Entrepreneurs who participate in this competition are rewarded for ideas that turn into a viable business model, gets to the market quickly, tests assumptions and can be modified according to the dictates of customers and revenue.
