Tigo Rwanda, a subsidiary of the digital services provider, Millicom, has announced its partnership with Rwanda Online Platform (ROPL), a digital agency helping to digitize all Rwandan government services, to launch “Irembo”.
In a news release from Tigo, the company said Irembo will serve as a one-stop-shop for government services, applications, support and payment. Consequently, users of Tigo cash will be able to make different payments for government services via the platform of ROPL.
“Our over 2.5 million subscribers registered with Tigo cash would welcome the convenience to to make eGovernment service payments with Rwanda online platform while saving an incredible amount of time,” said Tongai Maramba, chief executive officer, Tigo Rwanda.
With this new service, Rwandans will be able to make payments for birth certificates, driving test registrations, trading licenses for VAT registered and other profit oriented companies.
Citizens that have successfully applied for the egovernment service via the payment portal, Irembo, will receive a code that they will use on their mobile devices to confirm their payment.
It seems this service is exclusive to Tigo as they are the only partner with ROPL and users can only access the service via Tigo cash mobile services.
