The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has reintroduced its online registration platform, Company Registration Portal.

The Company Registration Portal (CRP) was developed to help reduce the time spent registering companies and cut the cost of registration. The portal is also said to support multi-channel e-payment systems.

The new platform was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication Technology and other affiliated bodies.

Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Olusegun Aganga, registered a company within 50 minutes while launching the new portal.

According to Dr. Aganga, “With this new application, customers can access and pay for the commission’s service online. Also, customers other than accredited agents and professionals can carry out their own transaction directly with the commission. This will significantly reduce the cost of doing business.”

Customers experienced a series of functional limitations with the initial CAC registration platform, before it brokedown on the 15th of August 2014.

However, the new CAC’s Company Registration Portal appeared to have experienced yet another setback after it was relaunched, as Nigerians took to Twitter to react to the development:

It appears that the Portal has resumed full functionality after a slow start. However, collection of registration certificate will require that the customers make their way to the CAC office either at Yaba or Abuja.
