Safaricom has revealed it will be transferring the servers of its M-PESA platform from Germany back to Kenya in a couple of days.
Safaricom said in a press release yesterday, that the transfer, which involves a full scale upgrade of the M-PESA system, is targeted at enabling speedier transactions, improved stability and efficient functionality.
Safaricom will also be integrating its internal systems in addition to the security, redundancy and disaster recovery on the new platform.
Financial Services General Manager Betty Mwangi explained that,“The consistent growth of M-PESA subscribers and transactions have necessitated the need for us to introduce a new platform and more importantly bring it home, to Kenya from Germany”.
