Safaricom has announced that users of the M-PESA will experience downtime in regards to the service. As we reported yesterday, the company will be going through a technical shakeup as it begins the move to localise its network and upgrade its systems.
Skeletal services will be available for M-PESA customers as they will be able to save and receive money from M-PESA agents and make transactions with other M-PESA customers. However, customers will not be able to register and activate new M-PESA, M-Shwari and M-Kesho accounts and they will not be able change their PIN.
BusinessdailyAfrica, revealed that these services will not be available from Thursday to noon on Sunday.
The mobile money platform has over 18 million subscribers within Kenya and seeks to boost its service efficiency with the new upgrades.
