MTN’s data centre in Gallo Manor, Johannesburg experienced a distributed-denial-of-service (DDoS) cyber attack earlier this week which led to disruption in the telco’s operations, Fin24 reports.
The attack on the Gallor Manor data centre over-flooded their server with requests and hindered connectivity. Though, the source of the attack has not been revealed, MTN says everything is under control.
“We have now rapidly implemented mitigation measures and connectivity is fully restored. MTN has also installed new hardware and software to provide protection from future DDOS attacks,” said MTN in a statement yesterday, according to Fin24.
Meanwhile, MTN has further said it experienced a separate interruption to services on Tuesday owing to a power outage on Monday.
