Although Android and iOS device users have been enjoying the benefits of the calling functionality in WhatsApp, the same couldn’t be said for the Windows Phone.

That all changes this week, as the latest update to WhatsApp – version 2.12.60 – on WP8 comes with this feature.

In the official changelog for the latest release, Whatsapp stated, “WhatsApp Calling: Call your friends and family using WhatsApp for free, even if they’re in another country. WhatsApp calls use your phone’s internet connection rather than your cellular plan’s voice minutes. Data charges may apply.”

This is great news for all Windows Phone users, who until now only had the options of making calls via phone calls over or Skype.
