Online lodging platform, Airbnb will expand its service in South Africa, Techcentral reports.

The company’s CEO, Brian Chesky, said this earlier today while also indicating that South Africa is its biggest market.

The company hopes to build on its achievement so far with the appointment of Nicola D’Elia as its GM for Middle East and Africa.

D’Elia indicated that it’s inevitable that the company opens local offices to serve the South African market. “It’s important to have a local presence to engage the community. We have meet-ups in other cities. We will start having a team in place. It’s the natural thing to do,” he said.

Airbnb has 1.5million homes listed on its platform worldwide. Africa has 30,000 homes listed with a third of these from South Africa.
