Organizers of the Western Cape Premier’s Entrepreneurship Recognition Awards have begun  taking entries for the third edition of the annual event.

Disrupt Africa reports that the award sets out to recognize and reward the achievements of some of the province’s most exciting and innovative entrepreneurs.  A Combined total of $150,000 will be given as prize money.

Prizes will be awarded across 12 categories including, emerging business, social enterprise, green business and others.

Winners in each category will receive cash prizes and an engraved plaque, while the overall winner of the competition will also receive prize money, as well as an overseas trip and an engraved trophy.

“By acknowledging and showcasing successful entrepreneurs, this awards programme is helping to build a culture of entrepreneurship in the Western Cape – and in turn, support the creation of jobs and opportunities by small and medium business,” the organizers said.

Submission of entries for the awards closes on September 14th. Winners will be announced in November. Interested applicants can submit entries here.
