In July, we reported that Nigerian commercial bank, Access Bank Plc released a mobile payments application that allows users make payments with a mobile phone’s camera and QR codes. It’s called PayWithCapture.
PayWithCapture allows users forgo cards, and rather lets the user link their bank account or debit card to the app, which lets them pay by scanning a QR code at the point of purchase. Already there is a vast network of merchants engaging the technology in Lagos.
We know you have questions about the technology. How exactly does it work? What’s the value to merchants? What about developers? What use cases are supported? And so on.
So next week, Thursday, 20th August, clear your calendar. Okay, maybe not all of it, just from 4pm downwards. Because TechCabal is hosting an AMA session with Gbenga Agboola, Head of Product Management & Innovation and Leke Adekoya who leads the Digital Banking team at Access Bank. They will be talking about payment solutions in Nigeria, and off course, PayWithCapture.
Important: This AMA is intended to discuss payment solutions, and not general banking. Let’s be nice and keep the conversation on-topic.
With that out of the way, the place to join the conversation is here. See you on Thursday.
