We’re not sure what’s going on, but the YouTube channel of the biggest media company in Kenya, NTV Kenya,  has been terminated. The notice on YouTube says it’s happened because they’d received multiple claims of copyright infringement.

It is possible that the account was terminated in error. NTV is one of the leading TV stations in Kenya so this comes as quite a shock. I mean, that’s like Channel TV’s Youtube channel being shut down. Before the channel went down, it had over 250,000 subscribers. Hopefully, it wouldn’t take very long for the issues to be resolved, and the account reinstated.

This is a developing story, and we’ll update it with more information as we get it.

Update 12:17pm: According to Techweez, this development is permanent. Apparently, the YouTube channel had gotten flagged for copyright infringement a couple of times and this was the last straw.  Our sources at NTV say that while the main channel has been closed for good, they’re working on recovering their content and are in the process of opening a new channel.
