LAN

Lagos Angel Network (LAN) syndicates have picked 3 ventures that pitched at the Second Lagos Startup DealDay that held on June 30, 2016. The ventures will receive funding from four syndicates that participated in the DealDay after a few financial and legal matters are taken care of. These startups are from different backgrounds – fintech, transport and manufacturing.

LAN received 177 applications which was cut down to an initial shortlist of 10. After a pre-pitch session, a shortlist of 5 startups were invited to the final pitch round. These pitches were made in front of a closed panel of LAN members, DealDay judges and syndicate members.

Earlier this year, LAN announced that they were going to to raise N100 million for Lagos-based startups in 2016 and so far, they’re making good on their promise. LAN is supported by VC4Africa, the Africa Business Angel Network (ABAN), TechCabal, hubs, incubators and accelerators.

The Lagos Startup Dealday is a quarterly event. The first one happened in March, and  LAN raised N50m that was invested in BigCabal Media and Café Neo. The next Startup DealDay will hold on September 29, 2016.
