BuyCoins is a cryptocurrency exchange platform and wallet for Africa. Founder, Timi Ajiboye, in his innovator showcase at the Fintech 2.0 Townhall, says BuyCoins is trying to solve two key problems – create a reliable and fast way to trade cryptocurrency using a Nigerian card or bank account and to make trans-African currency exchange valuable in spite of their volatility.
Since launching in August, 2018, over N1 billion worth of cryptocurrency has been traded on the platform. A majority of the transactions came from payments received by developers from their foreign clients, full-time cryptocurrency traders and transactions between importers and suppliers.
