According to reports, popular Nigerian journalist, Tolu Ogunlesi, is to be appointed Special Assistant on New Media by President Muhammadu Buhari.
His major responsibility, it is said, will be the running of the Buhari administration’s social media platforms, a job Reno Omokri did in the Goodluck Jonathan administration. Although his appointment has not been announced officially, reports say that he has undergone security checks at the Presidency.
Tolu Ogunlesi is a freelance writer and a regular contributor to The Punch Newspapers among other publications. It is very likely he will be dropping every other engagement to focus on the new job if it is, infact, true.
He is a two-time winner of the CNN Multichoice African Journalism Awards, and a 2013 Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Fellow. He is a very active Twitter user, and was an ardent supporter of President Buhari’s election campaign.
Meanwhile, this is Tolu Ogunlesi right now.
