To mark this year’s Children’s Day celebration, Funds and Electronic Transfer Solutions (FETS) has partnered with STEMCafe, a non-linear learning center for kids, to train less privileged children from the Vigilant Heart Charitable Society in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) skills.
The training session, held at the STEMCafe office in Lekki and Yaba, Lagos State, was well attended by the management of both companies and the media.
Speaking at the event, Head, Brand & Communications, fetswallet, Adebimpe Adejumo, while felicitating with the children on their special day, noted that the initiative is in line with its corporate social responsibility to promote learning.
She said, “Today’s knowledge will power the future we want.” We believe that when kids are exposed to STEM skills at a young age, it fosters creativity and innovative thinking that will enable them to thrive in a fast-paced world. As an organization, we do hope that through this program the children can begin to visualize a path to a career in STEM.
Also speaking, the Head of Marketing at fetswallet, Olutimi Ayeni, stated that the world is big on technology and children should see themselves as innovators and solution-makers. “fetswallet is keen on exposing children to the world of technology at an early age. We decided to sponsor this project because of the impact that we are certain it will have on them and society by extension, ” he said.
Commending fetswallet for the support extended to the kids, the Communications Manager, STEMCafe, Temitayo Olawale remarked, “At STEMCafe we engage kids from age 5 to 18 to explore the amazing world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in a fun and interactive manner. So, we provide the enabling environment for kids to learn by experimenting with amazing creations and ideas that develop lifelong learning. “
At a time when technical and scientific skills are becoming increasingly important in the workforce, it has become expedient that children are exposed to STEM learning in their early years to be future-proofed.
